# Britannia Bullion’s Matthew Jones Steps onto the Global Stage with Kitco News

Sep 11, 2026 · HubSpot Author

![](https://www.britanniabullion.com/hubfs/Kitco-Matthew.png)

Britannia Bullion is proud to announce a major milestone for our company and the growing international recognition of the expertise behind it.

*Matthew Jones*, Co Founder and Precious Metals Analyst at Britannia Bullion, will now provide regular monthly market insight to Kitco News, one of the most recognised sources of precious metals news, data and analysis in the world.

Kitco describes itself as a global precious metals authority, with its information consumed by millions of people through its websites, applications and social media platforms.

For Britannia Bullion, this represents far more than media coverage.

It places the research, thinking and market analysis produced within our company before a truly global audience of investors, analysts and precious metals professionals.

## Who is Matthew Jones?

Matthew Jones is the Co Founder and Precious Metals Analyst at Britannia Bullion.

His work focuses on the economic and political forces influencing gold, including inflation, interest rates, government debt, central bank policy, currency debasement, geopolitical instability and the changing role of physical gold within the global financial system.

Before helping to establish Britannia Bullion, Matthew served as a Precious Metals Analyst at Solomon Global.

During that period, he developed a growing public profile through articles, market commentary and contributions to national, international and specialist financial publications.

His approach has consistently been built around understanding the wider picture.

Rather than viewing gold purely through daily price movements, Matthew examines the underlying forces that can influence demand over months, years and economic cycles.

That means asking broader questions.

What happens when governments continue borrowing beyond sustainable levels? What happens when inflation remains embedded within an economy? What happens when central banks must choose between supporting growth and defending the value of their currencies?

It is this ability to connect monetary policy, politics, markets and physical gold that has increasingly brought Matthew’s analysis to the attention of the wider financial media.

## Building a Track Record in Precious Metals Analysis

Matthew’s published record stretches back well before the launch of Britannia Bullion.

In 2024, while working as a Precious Metals Analyst at Solomon Global, he became a regular contributor to London Loves Business.

Between September and November 2024, Matthew wrote extensively about the gold market, including analysis of:

- The effect of inflation on the real cost of essential goods
- The United States presidential election and its potential impact on gold
- Interest rate decisions from the Federal Reserve and other central banks
- The possible economic consequences of Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs
- Capital Gains Tax and the implications of political decisions for UK investors
- Escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine
- Conflict in the Middle East and the relationship between geopolitical risk and gold

His previous articles remain listed in the [London Loves Business contributor archive](https://londonlovesbusiness.com/author/matthewjones/).

Matthew’s analysis was also being recognised by Kitco News during this period.

In October 2024, Kitco included his commentary in its coverage of gold’s performance against the S&P 500. Matthew discussed how anticipated interest rate cuts, political uncertainty and geopolitical events were influencing demand for gold.

In November 2024, Kitco again featured his analysis in its coverage of the United States presidential election. He explained how major political change can create market uncertainty and increase demand for assets traditionally viewed as defensive.

Days later, Matthew was quoted by Kitco in its analysis of Donald Trump’s economic policies, rising bond yields and the United States dollar. His contribution examined the immediate pressure higher yields can place on gold while also considering how tariffs, expanding deficits and trade tensions could strengthen the longer term case for precious metals.

Later that month, Kitco published further analysis from Matthew concerning the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the potential consequences for gold if geopolitical tensions intensified.

His work has also been referenced or republished by outlets including the Jerusalem Post, African Mining Market and other financial and commodities publications.

## A New Chapter at Britannia Bullion

As Co Founder and Precious Metals Analyst at Britannia Bullion, Matthew has continued to develop his work for a wider audience.

In April 2026, London Loves Business published his guide to buying gold in a volatile financial environment.

He subsequently wrote a detailed guide for New Business explaining how people can approach physical gold carefully, understand the differences between coins and bars, consider UK tax treatment and assess the importance of transparent pricing and reputable providers.

Matthew has also written and contributed to coverage concerning market bubbles, retirement planning, central bank demand, the participation of women in the gold market and the potential impact of continuing geopolitical instability.

Britannia Bullion and its market analysis have now appeared across national, business and specialist publications, including The Times, iNews, New Business, London Loves Business, Always Finance and The Armchair Trader.

Our growing [national and business media coverage](https://www.britanniabullion.com/pages/britannia-bullion-in-the-media) reflects the increasing demand for clear explanations of what is happening to money, markets and physical gold.

## Matthew Jones Featured by Kitco News

On 2 September 2026, Kitco News published a major new feature based on an interview with Matthew.

Written by Kitco editor Neils Christensen, the article identifies Matthew as Co Founder and Precious Metals Analyst at Britannia Bullion.

The feature is titled:

“Gold looks cheap as debt, inflation and uncertainty threaten fiat currencies.”

It examines Matthew’s view that financial markets may be focusing too heavily on the immediate effects of rising inflation, energy prices and interest rates while failing to consider the potential economic consequences that could follow.

As Matthew tells Kitco:

“I think the markets are forgetting the next chapter.”

The immediate relationship appears straightforward.

Conflict in an important oil producing region can threaten supplies and transportation. This can push energy prices higher, increase inflation and encourage central banks to maintain higher interest rates.

Higher interest rates can create short term pressure for gold because the metal does not produce an income or yield.

However, Matthew believes that may not be the end of the story.

If elevated energy costs persist, the effects can spread through transportation, manufacturing and distribution. That can increase costs for businesses, reduce consumer spending and eventually weaken economic growth.

At that point, central banks could face an increasingly difficult choice between maintaining restrictive monetary policy to control inflation or providing support to weakening economies.

It is this possible next stage that Matthew believes investors may not yet be fully considering.

## Gold as Money, Not Simply Another Asset

One of the central arguments in Matthew’s Kitco interview is the distinction between money and currency.

Modern fiat currencies can be created in increasing quantities by governments and central banks. Gold cannot.

Governments face constant pressure to fund public services, support economies and meet the cost of existing debt. Raising taxes can be politically damaging. Reducing public spending can be equally difficult.

Creating or borrowing more currency can therefore become the path of least resistance.

However, expanding the amount of currency within a system can reduce the purchasing power of each existing unit over time.

Gold sits outside that system.

It cannot be created through a central bank decision. It does not depend on a government’s promise to repay a debt, and its physical supply cannot be expanded in the same way as currency.

This does not mean gold is without risk. Its price can rise and fall, sometimes significantly. However, its scarcity and independence from the traditional monetary system remain central to its appeal.

## Central Banks Continue to Accumulate Gold

Matthew’s position is also supported by the continuing behaviour of central banks.

The Kitco feature reports that central banks purchased a net 289 tonnes of gold during the second quarter of 2026. This represented a 62 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2025.

It also cites a World Gold Council survey in which 89 per cent of responding central banks expected official global gold reserves to increase over the following 12 months.

A record 45 per cent expected their own institutions to increase their gold holdings.

China is particularly important to Matthew’s analysis.

Its investment in gold vaults, refining, trading and pricing infrastructure may indicate that the country expects gold to play a more significant role within the future global financial system.

Central banks do not purchase hundreds of tonnes of gold without reason. Their decisions reflect considerations including diversification, liquidity, monetary confidence and reducing reliance on the financial obligations of other countries.

## Why This Matters for Britannia Bullion

Matthew’s ongoing contribution to Kitco News represents an important moment for Britannia Bullion.

Kitco is not simply another financial website. It is a longstanding international source of precious metals prices, market reporting and analysis, used by investors and industry professionals around the world.

For Matthew’s insight and the Britannia Bullion name to appear on this platform demonstrates the growing recognition of the knowledge within our company.

Kane White, Founder and CEO of Britannia Bullion, said:

“This is an enormous moment for Matthew and for Britannia Bullion.

“Matthew has spent years studying the relationship between gold, debt, inflation, interest rates and global politics. He does not simply look at what the gold price has done today. He looks at why it has happened and what the market could be failing to see next.

“For his analysis and the Britannia Bullion name to be placed before Kitco’s global audience is a genuine mark of how far this company has come.

“We have built Britannia Bullion through knowledge, conviction and hard work. This opportunity shows that the wider precious metals industry is beginning to recognise the depth of expertise inside our company.”

Matthew’s monthly contribution will allow Britannia Bullion’s perspective to reach an international audience while our clients continue to receive the same research, understanding and personal service upon which the company has been built.

This is an important milestone.

But for Matthew Jones and Britannia Bullion, it is only the beginning.
