The 2021 White Greyhound of Richmond coin is the tenth and final release in The Royal Mint’s highly regarded Queen’s Beasts series — a numismatic tribute to the ten heraldic statues that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. Each beast in the collection represents a key element of British royal ancestry, and this final coin brings the series to a dignified close with a creature symbolising loyalty, courage, and watchfulness.
Representing the House of Lancaster and later adopted by the Tudors, the White Greyhound of Richmond embodies noble qualities long associated with royal authority. On the reverse, Jody Clark’s design captures the greyhound in a poised stance, clutching a shield emblazoned with the Tudor Rose. Surrounding the image is the inscription: “WHITE GREYHOUND OF RICHMOND • 1 oz • FINE GOLD • 999.9 • 2021” — affirming the coin’s purity, weight, and year of issue.
The obverse features the fifth definitive portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, also designed by Jody Clark. Encircling the effigy is the traditional inscription: “ELIZABETH II • D • G • REG • F • D • 100 POUNDS” — confirming the coin’s legal tender status and royal connection.
This coin is graded and certified by the NGC, slabbed in a protective case to authenticate and preserve the coin's condition
