The 2025 Bond of the 1980s 1oz Gold Coin is the third release in The Royal Mint’s “Six Decades of 007” bullion coin series, celebrating the enduring legacy of the world’s most iconic spy, James Bond.
First brought to life by Ian Fleming in 1953, James Bond became a British cultural icon with his 1962 cinematic debut. Over the decades, the MI6 agent has captivated global audiences, evolving with each portrayal by a succession of talented actors.
This coin pays homage to the Bond films of the 1980s, showcasing the elegance and charm of Roger Moore in A View to a Kill and Octopussy, alongside the grittier, action-driven portrayal by Timothy Dalton in The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill. The Bede BD-5J ‘Acrostar’ microjet is featured prominently, immortalized in the thrilling opening sequence of Octopussy as it dramatically navigates through a hangar.
