The 2026 UK The Legend of the Loch Ness Monster 1oz Gold Coin marks the inaugural release in The Royal Mint’s new Legendary Creatures bullion series, celebrating the rich folklore of the British Isles. Beginning with Scotland’s most famous mythical being, this limited mintage issue of just 5,000 coins offers both rarity and enduring appeal.
The reverse design portrays the Loch Ness Monster rising from the depths of a Scottish loch with commanding presence. A dramatic Highland landscape of mountains and a distant castle frames the scene, enhancing the sense of legend and place. The coin’s weight, purity, and year date are also included within the design.
The obverse features the official uncrowned effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by sculptor Martin Jennings, accompanied by the coin’s monetary denomination.
Struck in fine gold and silver to bullion standard, this debut release brings together Scottish myth, exceptional craftsmanship, and investment grade precious metal.
