Product Description:
The Angel coin holds a remarkable place in British history, with strong ties to both religion and royal authority. Originally introduced during the reign of Edward IV, the coin became widely associated with protection and healing through the famous royal ‘touching ceremonies’, where it was believed to cure those suffering from the ‘King’s Evil’.
For 2026, the legacy of the Angel lives on within a new secure bullion range. Blending historic symbolism with modern minting technology, the reverse features an intricate security pattern designed to provide enhanced protection against counterfeiting. Coin designer Sandra Deiana has beautifully reinterpreted the classic depiction of the Archangel Michael slaying Satan, portrayed as a dragon. Encircling the design is the inscription ‘PER CRUCEM TUAM + SALVA NOS CHRISTE REDEMPTOR’, meaning ‘By Thy Cross, save us, O Christ, our Redeemer’.
