Product Description:
The 2019 Yale of Beaufort is the seventh release in The Royal Mint’s celebrated Queen’s Beasts series, a collection inspired by the ten heraldic statues that stood guard at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Each beast symbolises a piece of the monarch’s royal heritage, with the Yale of Beaufort representing proud defence and noble lineage.
This coin features the mythical Yale, a creature said to possess the ability to swivel its horns in any direction to protect itself from attack. Its inclusion in the series highlights the theme of strength, vigilance, and regal authority.
The obverse of the coin displays the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, created by renowned engraver Jody Clark. The inscription encircling the portrait reads: “ELIZABETH II • D • G • REG • F • D • 100 POUNDS.”
On the reverse, also designed by Jody Clark, the Yale of Beaufort is shown clutching a shield, standing proud and alert. Surrounding the image is the legend: “YALE OF BEAUFORT • 1 oz • FINE GOLD • 999.9 • 2019.”
